Hello all! You have made it to my blog. This is where I will be updating and posting some pictures for while I am away. I will try to update you at least once a week depending on our class schedule and also depending on the tons of other things we do here at the base in Davos that you are sure to hear about. Well it has been one week since I arrived in Switzerland and it's been an amazing, super tiring, and heavy week. I have been pumped with so much information about YWAM and what the heart behind their DTS ministry is all about. It has gotten me so excited for what God has in store for me. Reto and Judy, our base directors, along with a few other staff have helped each of us prepare our hearts and helped us understand all that these next few months will hold for each one of us. My new friends and I are very ready to grow and be challenged by the numerous speakers that are planning to come and speak in our daily lectures. Along with the amazing teachings we are receiving, we are also able to spend time snowboarding in the Alps which are completely breathtaking.
This week we were able to ride at Rienerhorn which has a gondola only a 5 minute walk from our base. The snow was amazing and made for a super fun day of riding in waist deep snow, exploring cliff drops and bailing head first into the powder. Also, we went up to the park for a few hours at Jakobshorn and everyone just went for it. The 55foot kicker gave me quite the scare but the feeling of flying that high in the air is quite indescribable.
Aside from the snowboarding I have already made some amazing friends and I already see and understand new things about God and how he wants to relate with me in a personal and intimate way. His presence is definitely in this house that I share with my new "Swiss Family" (which ironically, is comprised of mostly Americans) and I am so expectant and excited for all God has in store for me.
The leaders took some time to pray for each student before we came, and they made each one of us a mug with painted pictures on it which summarized a prophetic word or verse they received regarding each student. Part of mine was from Jeremiah 33:3 which says, "Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come." This verse gets me so excited for the things God has planned for me. I am excited to explore a deeper relationship with Him. If I could challenge you all in any way it would be this: if God is telling me He has secrets and "remarkable things to come" for me, he 100% has those secrets to reveal to you as well! I have been learning to step out in faith and trust that when I step out, God will come and meet me where I am at, and I challenge you to do the same!
I am so thankful for all of the support, prayer and love I have received thus far. I will continue to keep everyone updated through my blog.
Nick
Ps I'm still working on an effective way of adding pictures to this blog so hopefully my next one will have a couple more attached!
